This collection contains prints and artwork dating between the early 16th century-1968, collected by Westfield College. Westfield College was founded in 1882 and merged with Queen Mary University of London in 1989. The collection was acquired by Westfield College Library during the early 1970s, as teaching resources primarily for the History of Art Department.
The collection comprises artwork and prints including etchings, mezzotints, engravings, dry point, lithograph, aquatint, sketches, and paintings. It also includes several anonymous colour prints created by art students in Atelier Popularie [popular studio] in response to the May 1968 student revolution which began in Paris.
Labels on the items are a result of part of the collection being catalogued by a group of postgraduates under the supervision of the Deputy Keeper of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum. A number of the Westfield Prints were compared with the same print in the British Museum to verify its authenticity and state or edition.

Image: exemplifies the artist's attitude to his patrons. It is an illustration from Pliny the Elder's Anecdotes about Artists. Rosa has chosen a moment when the artist humbles the patron. Includes inscription ' Alexandro M. multa imperite in officina dissarrenti silentium comiter suedebat Apelles, rideri eum dicens a pueris qui colores tenerent. / Salvator Rosa Inv. Scul.' [In the studio Alexander used to talk a great deal about many things without any real knowledge of them and Apelles would politely advise him to be silent saying that the boys engaged in grinding the colours were laughing at him].
This print is the second state as it contains drypoint to the top of the stool, which was not present in the first state. It is a companion piece for 'The Genius of Salvator Rosa'.
