David Tyson, C.S.C., was elected provincial superior of the Holy Cross community in the summer of 2003, a search committee for a new president was established.  Rev. E. William Beauchamp, C.S.C., had arrived on campus as senior vice president in August 2002 and so was already deeply involved with the administration when elected president, taking office in January 2004. Previously, Beauchamp held administrative positions at the University of Notre Dame for more than 20 years, including that of executive vice president. He earned an MBA and a JD before being ordained a priest of Holy Cross in 1982.
