For proof that this is the meaning he added, “Do not enter into judgement with your servant.” Ψ142:2 Job also asks [this, being “upright, truthful, and God-fearing, and not addicted to any evil practice.] He said, “Would that there was an umpire to decide between us both,” and when God appeared, “I shall lay my hand on my mouth,” although God challenged him and said, “No, gird up your loins like a man.” He also reproached the Jews with this [in the words]….\n\nColumn 2, English Transcription\n\nThis is the reason, to be sure, that He does not list them himself, but gets him to. I mean, had He wanted to punish, He would have done the accusing; but as it is, since He wants to be merciful, He gives leeway to the sinner to receive the crown of gratitude and by confession win mercy. What could equal this benevolence?
