Each year parishes and chapels receive some of each of these oils for use locally in the administration of sacraments throughout  the year. The Oil of Catechumens is used in the sacrament of Baptism. The Oil of the Infirm is used in the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick (formerly known as Extreme Unction). Holy Chrism is used in the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Orders; it is also used in the dedication of an altar.
