After it was torn down another Pilot House was erected on the same site and opened in 1951. In 1985 the Pilot House underwent a renovation including a relocation of The Cove within the building. As part of the opening of the remodeled Pilot House, the University Food Service and Office of Student Services invited campus members for a preview of The Cove. In addition to a remodeled Cove, the Pilot House also houses a full-service bookstore and Office of Security and Safety (now known as Public Safety).
