Returning students … found that part of the building hardly recognizable as the place they left in June…. Having conceived the project last year, Brother Remy, science department technician, built a new walnut altar and communion rail during the spring, carving the inscriptions on the wood himself. He also carved new stations of the cross from white pine with frames of popular. …New paneling of birch around the sanctuary, with credence tables hand-carved to fit in with this setting, completely changes the appearance of the front of the chapel. The backing of the main altar is of American walnut, with adjustable curtains corresponding to the liturgical colors. Side altars of African benin, also new and inscription carved, match the main altar. Niches of walnut for the statues of St. Joseph and the Blessed Virgin have also been erected on either side of the sanctuary.
