The Most Rev. Paul Waldschmidt, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Portland, was principal celebrant and homilist at the dedication Mass. There were over 600 in attendance…. In his homily Bishop Waldschmidt said, 'For the first time in its 85 years of existence, the University has a special building dedicated to the worship of God.' Later, Father Thomas Oddo, CSC, President, added: \"And we have done something much more (than build a beautiful chapel), something which makes a prayerful statement to the world around us. This building will service as a dramatic affirmation that this is a Catholic university, that the spiritual life and religious values inspire and motivate all of us who work and study here.
