This Spanish-California style building served as Malibu's courthouse until 1970. This close up on an ornamental relief sculpture of three monks appears on the expanded split level western wing, which dates to about 1940. The expanded building served the additional function of housing the Sheriff's sub-station and holding cell. The church services of Malibu Presbyterian were held here as well, prior to the building of that congregation's church in 1951. The building still stands today, serving private renters."},{"label":"Type","value":["Image"]},{"label":"Asset ID","value":"0112-b08f03-0005"},{"label":"Series (Malibu Historical Photographs)","value":["Malibu Times Photographs 0112"]}],"description":"Monk sculptures on the old Malibu Courthouse","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/pepperdine/iiif/d552c0c9-2958-42e4-ae82-2af7e6913ce2/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Monk sculptures on the old Malibu Courthouse","height":3885,"width":2910,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/pepperdine/iiif/d552c0c9-2958-42e4-ae82-2af7e6913ce2/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/pepperdine/iiif/d552c0c9-2958-42e4-ae82-2af7e6913ce2","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":1024,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":3885,"width":2910},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/pepperdine/iiif/d552c0c9-2958-42e4-ae82-2af7e6913ce2/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/pepperdine/iiif/d552c0c9-2958-42e4-ae82-2af7e6913ce2/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/pepperdine/iiif/d552c0c9-2958-42e4-ae82-2af7e6913ce2/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/pepperdine/iiif/logo"}
