Beginning in the 1980s he abandoned wood and began to paint and sculpt. This monotype demonstrates his use of shape and pattern and rhythmic and expressive elements. His free-flowing quasi-geometric shapes create a twisting, looping sense of motion that animates the entire composition. Arnoldi was frequently praised for his physical engagement with materials, creating abstraction that feels energetic yet controlled.
