After making marks with masking tape or snapped chalk lines, he applied translucent resin to coat these paintings and preserve the delicate, geometric imagery. The resin itself was a mottled caramel in color, producing an uneven, sometimes ugly surface. The grungy, antique appearance of the paintings had a nostalgic feel and were in sharp contrast to the smooth, shiny fiberglass used in the ‘Finish Fetish’ idiom that predominated art in L.A. during the 1960s. Moses noted that his resin paintings, with their diagonal, woven patterns, were reminiscent of and inspired by Navaho Indian blanket patterns."},{"label":"Format","value":["Mixed Media"]},{"label":"Medium","value":"Resin and pigment on paper"},{"label":"Type","value":["Image"]},{"label":"Source","value":["Weisman Museum Collection"]},{"label":"Collecting Area","value":["Weisman Museum"]},{"label":"Digital Publisher","value":"Pepperdine Libraries"},{"label":"Rights and Usage","value":"Images on our website are provided to encourage personal, non-commercial use, scholarly inquiry and education.
