The crest features a tower atop a torse. </p><p>\nJeffries (1745-1819) was a Boston physician and loyalist during the Revolutionary War. He served as a British military surgeon. He tended the wounds of Patrick Carr after the Boston Massacre and is said to have identified the body of Dr. Joseph Warren after the Battle of Bunker Hill.  After moving to England, he made the first scientific balloon voyage over London in 1784. In 1785, he and Jean-Pierre François Blanchard were the first to cross the English Channel in a hot air balloon.
