He sailed for Africa in February of 1903. He was dismissed from service 6 days prior to his marriage to a Congolese woman named Lena Frederika, who was born in 1873, and was the adopted daughter of Dr. Joseph Clark. They lived for approximately five years in Gay Head, Massachusetts, before they moved to Donga, Nigeria with the help of the Sudan United Mission. Documents for the couple end in the 1920s.</p>"}],"description":"Clarence L.
