NC 25), Washington and Tyrrell Counties.\" In the first volume are comments on religious, educational, and social history of the area, its distinguished citizens, land, and resources; lists of legislators and soldiers; farming and forestry statistics; \"Origin of the Scuppernong Grape\"; interview (1937) with former slave on the Collins plantation; and copies of wills of Nathaniel Allen (1805), Josiah Collins (18190 Ebenezer Pettigrew (1848). The second volume contains copied records of Pettigrew's Chapel (founded by Charles Pett- igrew, 1799) which in 1858 became St. David's Parish, Scuppernong, including list of clergymen (1799-1934); record of baptisms, confir- mations, marriages, burials, and communicants from 1836 to 1926, including both whites and blacks; and minutes and correspondence of the vestry (1858-1897). A blueprint sketch of Scuppernong Farms property (n.d.) is in the Map Collection, N. C.
