Correspondence (1859-1889), mostly personal, includes letters from girls at Chowan Baptist Female Institute (1852-1868) and in Oxford Female College (1859); from woman in Norfolk Co., Va., referring to battle at Great Bridge, the Merrimack, singing \"Dixie\" to federal troops, and departure of Negroes; from relative in Tennessee about Primitive Baptist congregations (1866-1868); from a schoolgirl about fears of Negro uprising (1868); and from a student at Wake Forest College (1869-1870). Later letters concern property and court actions in Virginia.
