Volumes include transit books, field books, day books, time books, and level books containing records of the following surveys: state line in Graham Co. (1908-1909); large tract of timber land mostly in Graham Co. owned by several companies successively, one of which was Whiting Manufacturing Company of Tennessee; railroad routes and sidings for Waynesville and Western Railroad, Cheoah River Railroad, and lumber companies in Graham and Haywood counties; and dam sites along the Little Tennessee River (1931-1934). Volumes contain his survey reports to Whiting Manufacturing Company and abstracts of Graham (formerly Cherokee) Co. grant surveys, some for Ceded Cherokee Indian Lands. Blueprints and maps include map of proposed dam and reservoir on Hiwassee River in Cherokee Co., naming owners of property to be inundated; proposed rail route to a coal mine; and plans of proposed \"N.C. State [Natural History] Museum in Raleigh, H. H. Underwood, engineer\" (ca. 1925). Also copies of J. W. C.
