Letters from Hooper include photocopies of two undated letters (Nov.-Dec., 1775?) about politics in Pennsylvania, American vessels and prizes, need for imported powder, and war news; and three postwar letters, one a copy, from Hooper in Hillsborough to his brother in Wilmington about a lawsuit, his sons, the constitutional ratification conventions, Willie Jones, and Orange Co. and Wilmington politics (1788). Miscellaneous items include a manuscript biographical sketch of Hooper, written about 1825 and containing comments on Cape Fear society before the Revolution and quotations from Hooper's contemporaries; copies of letters from John Penn and Cornelius Harnett to Governor Caswell about militia, pay of a major general and staff, provisions for army, and prisoners of war (Feb. 18, 1776), and from Joseph Hewes to James Iredell about his ill health, Congress, and Hessians (May 17, 1776); copy of proclamation by Gen.
