Martha writes that she and the children are still ill. She thinks the baby may die. She has no news of Asheville, but the nearby troops have been told to make plans to protect provisions from Union forces in the area. She thinks it is unfair that Francis is under guard since he came back voluntarily and since he left because of the death of his son. Patrols are rounding up deserters, as well as paroled and furloughed men. All men of a certain age are being conscripted into either active military or home guard. She has had the hogs killed, and some of her food supplies have been stolen."},{"label":"Identifier","value":"PC_1825_Poteet_Dickson_Letters_18640121"}],"description":"Letter: Martha Hendley Poteet to Francis Marion Poteet, Jan. 21, 1864","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/dac61484-7942-4259-9de5-fe56b728922a/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"PC_1825_Poteet_Dickson_Letters_18640121_001","height":1680,"width":1047,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/20296d8d-62c8-4252-b9aa-cf1ea09c1c0c/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jp2","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/20296d8d-62c8-4252-b9aa-cf1ea09c1c0c","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1680,"width":1047},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/dac61484-7942-4259-9de5-fe56b728922a/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/20296d8d-62c8-4252-b9aa-cf1ea09c1c0c/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}},{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/dac61484-7942-4259-9de5-fe56b728922a/canvas/_2","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"PC_1825_Poteet_Dickson_Letters_18640121_002","height":1681,"width":1055,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/8ddd463f-5c74-4d45-a4fd-2bc73ed4b267/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jp2","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/8ddd463f-5c74-4d45-a4fd-2bc73ed4b267","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1681,"width":1055},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/dac61484-7942-4259-9de5-fe56b728922a/canvas/_2","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/8ddd463f-5c74-4d45-a4fd-2bc73ed4b267/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/20296d8d-62c8-4252-b9aa-cf1ea09c1c0c/full/300,300/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/logo"}
