Included in this series are a group of photographs depicting Magnolia Gardens in Charleston, South Carolina, one picture of the Lost Colony theatrical stage, one picture of the NC Capitol grounds in the 1970s, a picture of a man posing in a Garrote chair (Spanish method of capital punishment) and a large series of souvenir photographs depicting  World War I scenes from France and Germany. This collection of photographic negatives and prints is made up of the photographs taken and overseen by Herbert Hutchinson Brimley (1861-1946) for the Department of Agriculture, the North Carolina Geological Survey and the State Museum.
