The remainder are photocopies from the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, including draft letters from Dobbs on need for more British colonies (1730s) and let- ters from Dobbs concerning settlement in the Ohio Valley and prob- lems with Indians and French (1749-1750), a plan for Ireland to buy the Hudson Bay Company (n.d.), description of Nova Scotia (1750), and Dobbs's collection of seeds and plants. Concerning North Carolina are letters about settlers along the Pee Dee River, their produce and iron production, and irregularities of North Carolina government (1751); about the Cape Fear region and naval stores in the colony (1749/50); and about French, German, and Moravian set- tlers, missionaries to Indians, silk culture, and appointment of Dobbs as governor. Later letters and papers concern his death, his estate, and dispute over quitrents, with letters to heirs from Mecklenburg set- tlers (Mar., 1775). Correspondents include John Campbell, John Chalmers, Justina Dobbs, William Faris, Henry E.
