W. Holden and destruction of the North Carolina Standard's office by Georgia troops; desertions; and Unionists. Other letters concern the Fayetteville Arsenal; UNC affairs, including visits by Edward Everett and President James Buchanan (1859); publications printed by Hale, especially Francis L.
