A memorandum book records jury members (1858); and a letter from Rowan Co. concerns appointment of a guardian (1854). A few notes and papers relate to George S. and R. A. Cole, storekeepers. Corresponden\\ce includes letters to Cole from John A. Jackson, Co. H, 26th Regt. NCT, stationed in vicinity of Morehead City and Kinston, describing trading ships, coastal defenses, and punishment of a deserter. Also Cole's militia commissions (1855, 1862); his p\\etition for exemption from Home Guard (1864); appointment as ordnance sergeant, 3rd Regt. N.C. Home Guard; and receipts for weapons and ammunition (1864). Moore Co. land papers include grant (1795) and deeds (1797-1905, 1951).
