Civil War letters include one from chaplain, 2nd Regt. NCST (1861); report on slaves sent to Virginia (1862); and news from occupied Plymouth and surrounding areas, concerning business, residents recruited into Union army, and flight of slaves to Federal protection. Also introduction for refugee Chesson to Hon. A. G. Sparks of Georgia; commissary report on provisions purchased and issued at Kinston (June, 1862); and letter to legislator W. R.
