CPCC evolved from Carver College and Charlotte College.  Carver College was established in 1949 under the direction of the Charlotte City School Board and was the black counterpart of Charlotte College. Carver operated initially as a night school designed primarily to meet the educational needs of returning World War II veterans. Programs included three divisions: a college transfer curriculum leading to an associate of arts degree; a vocational training program; and an accelerated high school unit. Classes were held at Second Ward High School.  Under the state Community College Act of 1957, control of Carver College was transferred in 1958 from the city school board to the newly created Board of Trustees of the Charlotte Community College System.  On December 19, 1961, the board of trustees changed the name of Carver College to Mecklenburg College; and in January, 1962, a new campus was opened at I-85 and Hoskins Road. In 1963, Mecklenburg College and the Industrial Education Center combined to form Central Piedmont Community College."},{"label":"Place","value":["Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, United States"]},{"label":"Subject","value":["Central Piedmont Community College (Charlotte, N.C.)"]},{"label":"Time Period","value":["(1990-current) Contemporary"]},{"label":"Abstract","value":"For the North Carolina Exploring Cultural Heritage Online (NC ECHO) project, 1999-2007, photos were taken of archives, historic houses, museums, libraries and more."},{"label":"Table of Contents","value":"One or more additional photo(s) for this site visit, with filenames beginning ncecho_636, may be viewed at our library."},{"label":"Format","value":["Photographs"]},{"label":"Type","value":["Image"]},{"label":"Identifier","value":"ncecho_636007"}],"description":"Central Piedmont Community College, Hagemeyer Learning Resource Center, College Archives","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/b2f75b94-07fd-4cad-9fd0-657a366f0a9a/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Central Piedmont Community College, Hagemeyer Learning Resource Center, College Archives","height":1280,"width":960,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/b2f75b94-07fd-4cad-9fd0-657a366f0a9a/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jp2","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/b2f75b94-07fd-4cad-9fd0-657a366f0a9a","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1280,"width":960},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/b2f75b94-07fd-4cad-9fd0-657a366f0a9a/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/b2f75b94-07fd-4cad-9fd0-657a366f0a9a/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/b2f75b94-07fd-4cad-9fd0-657a366f0a9a/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/logo"}
