Superior Court of Equity, consisting mainly of letters from family and business acquaintances. Letters (1819-1836) from his brother Jonathan of Stevenson's Point concern business, farming, family news, his meeting in Washington, D.C., with President Andrew Jackson (1834), and his work in the Constitutional Convention of 1835 and in the House of Commons (1835). Other family correspondents include his nephew describing inauguration of new president at Randolph-Macon (1830) and death of President Caldwell at UNC (1835); sister at Oxford Female Academy (1824); and his uncle John W. Jacocks in New Haven, Conn. (1823-1833). Letters from John and Thomas Pollock Devereux, Thomas Cox, and Benjamin Maitland concern Jacocks as referee in suit involving commission merchants Cox and Maitland of Plymouth (1832-1836); and letters from persons in Brownsville, Tenn. (1827-1834), Warrenton (1830-1836), and Rolesville (1842-1846) concern him as agent for their Bertie Co. property. Other correspondents include emigrants to Benton, Miss., describing the area (1836); Thomas Newby telling of a rumored insurrection of slaves and free Negroes in Pasquotank Co. (1835); and William Gaston about a debt (1821). Several papers (1831) relate to Jacock's shipment of wheat, corn, and naval stores to New York.
