(later Tenn.), and authorization of agent to collect his pay (1789); statement by Jackson (Philadelphia, 1797) describing incident in Nashville when fraudulent certificates were issued for North Carolina military land warrants; and note from Jackson at New Orleans to Commandant Daniel T. Patterson, USN, concerning exchange of prisoners with the British (Feb., 1815). There are photocopies of a letter from James K. Polk advising Jackson on his campaign for the presidency (Sept., 1828); and of a letter purportedly from Jackson (probably forged by a nullifier) to David Owen of Rutherford Co. confiding plots against John C. Calhoun, France, and the nullifiers, and naming N.C. Whig Congressman James Graham as his collaborator. More recent material includes report on \"The Andrew Jackson Birthplace Problem\" prepared for the N.C. Dept. of Archives and History by Max F. Harris (1962), and Harris's research materials, including photocopied documents, maps, and newspaper clippings (1763-1962). Also printed items about Waxhaw, N.C.
