Henry Frye Frye discusses what it was like to attend a segregated high school, the opportunities he was afforded, and his matriculation into North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and later University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. Frye recounts his life after graduating from law school. This interview was conducted by B. Bernetiae Reed on December 7, 2022, for the South Benbow Road National Register of Historic Places Nomination and in collaboration with the City of Greensboro Historic Planning Office. South Benbow Road is a historically Black neighborhood in Greensboro, North Carolina and this project helps preserve the neighborhood and city’s history through the voices of its residents. The Oral History collection contains interviews conducted and acquired by the Oral History Unit of the State Archives of North Carolina.
