A diary for 1927 concerns a trip to Europe.  Others (1929-1933) record her activities as first lady of North  Carolina: dinners, receptions, teas, and entertainments given  and attended; travels around the state; occasional commentary  on national and state politics; and family matters. A guest  book (1929-1932) records visitors to the governor's mansion. A  typed volume of extracts from various sources, including records  (1812-1900) of Concord Baptist Church, Rutherford Co., concerns  members of the Webb family, especially the careers of Rev. James  Milton Webb (1802-1854) and Superior Court Judge James Landrum  Webb (1853-1930), father of Mrs. Gardner.
