He wants the children to write to him with any news they may have. He also advises them to listen to their elders and to 'take advice from a friend who is capable of advising you.' The last page of the letter is addressed to a Nancy Roberts whom he sends this letter in care of; he thanks her for all her help and asks that she read the letter to his children. Pvt. Williams was from Wake County and served in Co. G, 7th Regiment, North Carolina Troops.
