Correspondence (1839-1881) includes letters from relatives in Tennessee, New York (1858), and North Carolina, with comments on President Polk's visit to UNC (1859), Methodist ministry in Guilford Co. and poorhouse there (1861), preaching to slaves (1861), Bingham School (1863), and travel to Lenoir and Boone (Dec., 1864). Civil War letters are from W. R. \"Sawney\" Webb, (15th Regt. NCT), A. S. Webb (23rd and 44th Regts. NCT), and Chaplain Richard S. Webb (44th Regt. NCT) with comments on destruction of goods at Manassas Junction (Mar., 1862), officer elections, casualties, hospitals, a revival, chaplains, peace movement, and condition of troops (Oct., 1863). Postwar letters are about schools in Tennessee and tutoring black children. Also in collection are printed sermons on the death of Mrs. Amy Webb, Ebenezer Church, Granville Co. (1835); pamphlet history of the Geneva Presbyterian Church, Granville Co., 1833-1933; a volume commemorating Granville Co. servicemen of WWI; OUR WEBB KIN OF DIXIE (Oxford, N. C., 1940); \"Record of the Howard and Hunt Families\" of Granville Co. See also P.
