Among them, however, will be found a letter, among the six in the collection, dated June 25, 1835, written by Brother Heinrich Gottlieb Clauder from Connesauga, Cherokee Nation, in Tennessee, to Timothy Vogler at Salem. The letter's main subject is guns made by Vogler, a highly skilled gunsmith, but is concerned as well with products of other Salem crafts. He briefly accounts the present status of his work at the Moravian school for the Indians to which he is missionary. Regarding the Horton Family, A. Hamilton Horton married Mary, daughter of Timothy Vogler of Salem, N.C., and had by her two sons, Hamilton V. and Phineas E. Horton. Of these, Hamilton V. married Minnie Laurie, daughter of Calvin J.
