Edwina Holley Lee recalls memories of growing up in the Black neighborhood in Greensboro and her family’s impact on the community. She also discusses her participation in the civil rights movement as a student at Dudley High School. This interview was conducted by B. Bernetiae Reed on November 28, 2022, for the South Benbow Road National Register of Historic Places Nomination and in collaboration with the City of Greensboro Historic Planning Office. South Benbow Road is a historically Black neighborhood in Greensboro, North Carolina and this project helps preserve the neighborhood and city’s history through the voices of its residents. The Oral History collection contains interviews conducted and acquired by the Oral History Unit of the State Archives of North Carolina.
