Included are correspondence with agents about prices, cargoes, vessels, wrecks, insurance, and events in port cities; and receipts and invoices for cargo (1839-1849). Papers of the Piggott family include work records and expenses of Culpeper Pigott and sons, shipbuilders (1811-1833), and some papers of Bernice, widow of Elijah C. Piggott (1866-1881). There are estate papers of William C. Bradley (1840-1847), and a few papers of Thomas Williams (1867-1868). Letters and papers of Richard P. Williams, manager of New Bern Water, Electric Light, and Railway Company, include letters (chiefly 1895) to him as Republican legislator about New Bern government, the oyster bill, rural schools, tax to maintain bridges and ferries, and UNC.
