State Archives of North Carolina"},{"label":"Language","value":["English"]},{"label":"Description","value":"This volume appears to be a private record kept by William Murfree, sheriff of Hertford County, as a result of an investigation into the public accounts by the General Assembly of 1768 which reported that many of the county sheriffs were in arrears in their settlements with the colonial treasury. Murfree seems to have kept this record to show precisely what had been collected in his name and from whom.
