Oxendine discusses his time in the armed forces, his career at Sears, Roebuck and Company and his life as a touring craftsman with his late wife, Loretta Oxendine. He expresses gratitude for the role his artistry has played in his life and for the strides Lumbee Indians have made in achieving recognition and civil rights. This interview was conducted by John Horan on November 8, 2024 in collaboration with the North Carolina American Indian Heritage Commission. The Oral History collection contains interviews conducted and acquired by the Oral History Unit of the State Archives of North Carolina. This unit seeks to work with individuals and communities across the state to record and preserve the lived experience of North Carolinians, as told by North Carolinians and to make these histories accessible for generations to come. This interview contains content that may be harmful or difficult to view, including language that reflects outdated, biased, offensive views as well as descriptions of conflict, racism, and violence."},{"label":"Date","value":"D:8 M:11 Y:2024"},{"label":"Rights","value":"All rights for this interview held by State Archives of North Carolina.
