The first contains two letters connected with Mary A. E. Harrington, who appears to have been a teenaged girl belonging to a family living in eastern Greene County. The second group is made up of 26 marriage licenses issued for Pitt County couples between the years 1827 and 1842.    The earliest of the two letters was written by Lanier Page, from Forestville, S.C., on May 11, 1856, and addressed to his cousin, Mary A. Harrington, at \"Kinston, Green County, N.C.\". This letter is of family interest only. The second letter, dated September 18, 1856, was written by Mary A. E. Harrington to an unnamed sister for whom no address is noted. The letter speaks of a large revival in progress at Rainbow Methodist Church (in southern Greens County on the road leading from Hookerton to Kinston), and names several of her sister's \"old school mates\" who have been \"mourners\" but have not yet \"professed.�    The second group is made up of 26 marriage licenses issued for Pitt County couples between the years 1827 and 1842, a period during which licenses were retained by the justice of the peace or the minister after he had performed the marriage ceremony for the couple. It is not until the Act of 1850 that such licenses were required to be returned to the clerk of county court for recordation.)
