John's regiment anticipates a battle once the weather clears up, but John believes they will win. He answers Martha's question about whether he was punished when he returned to camp. John asks Martha to send him gloves and wishes that she could cook for him since the food in camp is scarce. He says that he will send her money when he can, if he isn't discharged first, and will try to set it up so that she can draw money from the county. He also mentions their daughters and his confidence that they will find good husbands.
