State Archives of North Carolina"},{"label":"Language","value":["English"]},{"label":"Description","value":"Mrs. Coltrane (1889-1996) taught in the public schools of North Carolina, and after her husband, Eugene Jarvis Coltrane, was named �president of the newly founded Brevard College in 1934, she joined the college faculty. He was later with Highpoint College. The papers, dating from 1909 to 1982, include correspondence, autobiographical material, and miscellaneous papers.    Both Dr. and Mrs. Coltrane played strong roles in the developing years of Brevard College until his resignation from the presidency in 1950. He joined the faculty of High Point College in 1950 and remained with that institution until 1955.    Mrs. Coltrane's papers contain some information on her husband and on the two colleges, as well as information relating to his daughters by his first marriage. She, herself, however, is the dominant figure of these papers, and her \"Life Review\" is particularly self-revelatory.    The preliminary arrange�ment of the papers is:  Box 1.
