He is sorry to hear she is still so ill. He wants to see the children but is unsure when that may be; due to the way furloughs are given out, privates have a hard time getting a furlough and officers can go home anytime they want. He also tells of the extreme hard times they are seeing with very little food ('3 days rations for 8 days'), and having no clothing. One third of the company is without shoes and George says he will not fight unless they give him clothing to wear. Pvt. Williams was from Wake County and served in Co.
