Items concerning Jones's collection of debts for firms in Baltimore and Philadelphia include list of debtors in eastern North Carolina (1798) with comments on their circumstances; and letters about commerce, debts, and fisheries in northeastern North Carolina and Virginia, correspondents including Josiah Collins, Jr., John Hamilton, and a doctor in Granville and Wake counties (1789). Per- sonal accounts of Jones include bill from Peter Casso for lodging in Raleigh (1800). A memorandum book (1799) refers to debts and records daily expenses and business transactions while traveling, with copies of business letter sent, and notes on goods received and shipped, and land bought.
