This copy was mimeographed in 1950 by the North Carolina Department of Archives and History for the unveiling of the \"Pottery Clay (Q-36)\" historical marker in Franklin, N.C. where Griffiths sourced clay for Wedgwood potteries in England. Griffiths sourced this clay near the historic Cowee town, which served as the principal settlement and diplomatic center for the Cherokee Middle Towns, leading Griffiths to document his interactions with the Cherokee in this area. The original journal is housed in the V&A Wedgwood Collection in Barlaston, England.
