Mike Easley selected the name of Nancy Ashburn, a teacher at West Iredell High School in Statesville, to receive a $1,000 prize in a random drawing for teachers who completed the 2008 Teacher Working Conditions Survey. All teachers and administrators from schools in which 100 percent of faculty submitted the survey were eligible for the prize in the fourth of five weekly drawings.
