The balance of the collection consists of accounts of Benjamin F. Williamson, a merchant of Rockingham County, for the period 185.-1861. Williamson apparently gave up his business in 1861 to join the Confederate Army. in which he served as a member of the Ninth Battalion  (Sharp Shooters). He was paroled at Appomattox Court House when General Lee surrendered, and it is not known whether he returned to Rockingham County. He was married inl879 and settled in Sampson County. In 1901 he applied for and received a pension for injuries received during his service in the Confederate Army. The accounts, which were maintained as individual papers, appear to be incomplete."},{"label":"Digital Characteristics","value":"1 page"},{"label":"Format","value":["Finding aids"]},{"label":"Rights","value":"The SA of NC considers this item in the public domain by U.S. law but responsibility for permissions rests with researchers."},{"label":"Source Collections","value":["Trotter Collection"]}],"description":"Trotter Collection, 1855-1861, 1878, and after","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/59e53ece-a173-418f-9b50-3d876f31f591/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Trotter_Collection_MfP210_Final-1","height":1690,"width":1267,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/4624e380-134e-44c8-a0bd-cb051a1bcbd9/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/4624e380-134e-44c8-a0bd-cb051a1bcbd9","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1690,"width":1267},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/59e53ece-a173-418f-9b50-3d876f31f591/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/4624e380-134e-44c8-a0bd-cb051a1bcbd9/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/4624e380-134e-44c8-a0bd-cb051a1bcbd9/full/300,300/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/logo"}
