The deterioration of the letter makes it difficult to read, but the handwriting looks like that of Charles Futch. The author has been sick with measles; many others in camp are also sick with the measles and mumps. The rest of the regiment has gone to Virginia except for two companies including his. The company is waiting for its uniforms and once they are received the author expects to start traveling to Virginia.
