There are Montgomery Co. land papers (1779-1820), a few slave papers, receipts for taxes and estate settlements, and receipted bills from Henderson merchants, doctors, schoolteacher (1792), and from Dr. David Caldwell [Jr.], moving to Guilford Co. for his health (n.d.). Other papers include permission to build gristmill (1801); complaint by Henry Delamothe to Methodist circuit preacher at Bell's Meeting House, accusing Benjamin Bell of slander (1813); papers relating to suits with George McCullock, with the university trustees, and with Henry Delamothe (1815-1821); accounts for support of father by sons; a few business letters; appointment as election inspector (1816); and agreements (1817) for sharecropping and apprenticeship to carpenter. Later receipted bills, many from merchants in Albemarle (1826-1860), are for Elizabeth Bell Harris.
