Mabry and Son, W. C. Mabry, etc., including business letters from wholesale houses (1883-1929), communications from government agencies (1918-1919), accounts (1871-1929), tax and freight receipts, bills of lading , bank statements and checks, wholesale advertising, and price lists. Many letters and accounts concern W. C. Mabry as commission merchant in the seasonal shipping of berries and cantaloupes (1909-1929), with a few lists of growers (1907-1909). Some earlier papers (1844-1866) concern John Read, R. C. Mabry, and a store in Palmer's Springs, Va.; others relate to the Farmers' Gin Company (1919) and the settlement of estates and guardian accounts in Virginia and North Carolina (1866-1920). Personal correspondence (1891-1925) includes literary society minutes (1895-1896) and letters from a Supply Squadron soldier in Texas preparing for France and learning to fly (1917) and from a professional baseball player (1922). Miscellaneous items include a proposal to Sons of Temperance (1851); list of 80 slaves owned by Weldon N. Edwards (1865); labor agreements with freedmen (1878); summary of taxes collected by Franklin Co. sheriff (1878); a Warren Co. deed (1896); printed items (1886-1909) relating to Middleburg Male Academy, Randolph-Macon College, Ridgeway High School, Oak Ridge Institute, and Milwaukee (Wis.) Home Coming. Other printed matter includes A MEMOIR OF THE REV. ELISHA MITCHELL, D. D. (Chapel Hill, 1858); THE VOLUNTEER'S HANDBOOK (Richmond, 1861); NORTH CAROLINA MEDICAL JOURNAL (Wilmington, Oct., 1885); THE MIDDLE SOUTH WOOL BOOK (Leaksville Woolen Mills, 1900); and a printed speech by Congressman R.
