Martha tells Francis that she and the children are sick with measles and flux. She reports on a rained out gospel meeting. She informs Francis that someone is stealing their corn and sweet potatoes. She begs him to get a furlough because they are all unwell, will have to move soon, and she can't keep up with the farm work due to her health and the weather. She says she would come to him if she could so that she could tell him more than she can write and mentions someone who told his fortune. She states that if he were a rich man's son the military would let him come home and mentions other local men who have gotten furloughs. In an addendum dated October 7, she tells him how the baby has died."},{"label":"Identifier","value":"PC_1825_Poteet_Dickson_Letters_18641006"}],"description":"Letter: Martha Hendley Poteet to Francis Marion Poteet, Oct. 6, 1864","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/2cd94206-8a05-4a49-afd5-b8b5d75b581c/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"PC_1825_Poteet_Dickson_Letters_18641006_001","height":2224,"width":905,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/845a5a4f-020d-487c-a025-51f59d134a5a/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jp2","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/845a5a4f-020d-487c-a025-51f59d134a5a","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4,8]}]},"height":2224,"width":905},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/2cd94206-8a05-4a49-afd5-b8b5d75b581c/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/845a5a4f-020d-487c-a025-51f59d134a5a/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}},{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/2cd94206-8a05-4a49-afd5-b8b5d75b581c/canvas/_2","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"PC_1825_Poteet_Dickson_Letters_18641006_002","height":2227,"width":907,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/19d4493a-7775-4d62-bbf0-06949f0bc90b/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jp2","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/19d4493a-7775-4d62-bbf0-06949f0bc90b","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4,8]}]},"height":2227,"width":907},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/2cd94206-8a05-4a49-afd5-b8b5d75b581c/canvas/_2","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/19d4493a-7775-4d62-bbf0-06949f0bc90b/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}},{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/2cd94206-8a05-4a49-afd5-b8b5d75b581c/canvas/_3","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"PC_1825_Poteet_Dickson_Letters_18641006_003","height":984,"width":900,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/72b03208-8d3b-43c5-890e-3c0b0e1eb0c9/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jp2","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/72b03208-8d3b-43c5-890e-3c0b0e1eb0c9","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2]}]},"height":984,"width":900},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/2cd94206-8a05-4a49-afd5-b8b5d75b581c/canvas/_3","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/72b03208-8d3b-43c5-890e-3c0b0e1eb0c9/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}},{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/2cd94206-8a05-4a49-afd5-b8b5d75b581c/canvas/_4","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"PC_1825_Poteet_Dickson_Letters_18641006_004","height":978,"width":905,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/ff5ee8ae-83e0-48ad-872d-00dba3647f3a/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jp2","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/ff5ee8ae-83e0-48ad-872d-00dba3647f3a","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2]}]},"height":978,"width":905},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/2cd94206-8a05-4a49-afd5-b8b5d75b581c/canvas/_4","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/ff5ee8ae-83e0-48ad-872d-00dba3647f3a/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/845a5a4f-020d-487c-a025-51f59d134a5a/full/300,300/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/logo"}
