Letters describe purchase of produce from Watauga Co. area and its ship- ment from Hickory; towns of Hickory, Lenoir, and Statesville; funeral procession of Gov. Tod R. Caldwell (1874); elections of 1874-1876; and fairs, balls, temperance meetings, Sunday school and Masonic pic- nics, concerts and other entertainments in Hickory. Other letters con- cern the hotel business in Athens, Ga.; the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia (1876); and medications from World's Dispensary Medical Association (1879-1880).
