Bernetiae Reed (b. 1951), long-term resident of Greensboro, North Carolina. Reed discusses her family’s heritage and genealogy, and her father’s work as a member of the United States Agency for International Development. Reed also describes living abroad in her youth, and her various educational experiences. This interview was conducted by Brian Robinson on November 20, 2023, for the South Benbow Road National Register of Historic Places Nomination and in collaboration with the City of Greensboro Historic Planning Office. South Benbow Road is a historically Black neighborhood in Greensboro, North Carolina and this project helps preserve the neighborhood and city’s history through the voices of its residents. The Oral History collection contains interviews conducted and acquired by the Oral History Unit of the State Archives of North Carolina.
