Martha tells Francis of a recent church revival meeting where two of their children accepted Jesus. She hopes for peace. She mentions hearing about rows of deserters being tied together to be taken somewhere. She has gotten a letter from his brother Henry, but not from Francis and that makes her cry. She worries that he is mad at her. Several people in the area are sick with the measles. The baby has started to grow and the children are doing well. She wants her husband to contact and pay Hamp Cowen to rent a new place for her to live in. She worries that animals will get into her corn. She ends with a prayer for Francis's safety."},{"label":"Identifier","value":"PC_1825_Poteet_Dickson_Letters_18640819"}],"description":"Letter: Martha Hendley Poteet to Francis Marion Poteet, Aug. 19, 1864","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/290c11d0-4103-43d0-867e-103f9c292309/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"PC_1825_Poteet_Dickson_Letters_18640819_001","height":2225,"width":911,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/1dcb6a8a-bf5f-47b6-9dd5-8a93923d582f/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jp2","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/1dcb6a8a-bf5f-47b6-9dd5-8a93923d582f","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4,8]}]},"height":2225,"width":911},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/290c11d0-4103-43d0-867e-103f9c292309/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/1dcb6a8a-bf5f-47b6-9dd5-8a93923d582f/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}},{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/290c11d0-4103-43d0-867e-103f9c292309/canvas/_2","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"PC_1825_Poteet_Dickson_Letters_18640819_002","height":2227,"width":925,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/15f804b5-2603-4286-bb09-91dfc3fcbee5/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jp2","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/15f804b5-2603-4286-bb09-91dfc3fcbee5","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json"},"height":2227,"width":925},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/290c11d0-4103-43d0-867e-103f9c292309/canvas/_2","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/15f804b5-2603-4286-bb09-91dfc3fcbee5/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/1dcb6a8a-bf5f-47b6-9dd5-8a93923d582f/full/300,300/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/ncdcr/iiif/logo"}
