Henry has learned that Plymouth is in Union hands. He has heard from a group of newly arrived Marines that his brother William has been discharged and his brother Langley may have been sent to the 17th regiment. He asks his wife to tell him about the situation at home just in case he gets a furlough because he doesn't want to be taken prisoner. He fears his letters may be intercepted by the Union and so sends them to his friend Jasper at Tarboro so that he can deliver them. He offers some advice for the farm and their slaves and tries to comfort her about the fall of Plymouth, saying: ''I dont want you to greave your self to much a bout the fall of plymouth it may be the best for us the lord noes what is best for us and I have all confidence in his doing the best thing for us if we put our trust in him which I try to do at all times'' Some of the men have the measles."},{"label":"Identifier","value":"CW_MIC_Box89_Henry_H_Bowen_Papers_18641106"}],"description":"Letter: Henry H.
